The farm has a total of 120.86 hectares, of which only 19% is used for coffee cultivation and the rest for forest reserve.
Located in the highest areas of the Cobán region in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, Finca Aurora was founded by European immigrants. The cultivation of coffee and the production of jute, brown sugar and molasses sacks began in 1887. For four generations, coffee beans were exported to the most prestigious coffee importers and roasters in Europe.
Finca Aurora, which maintains some of its original structures, like an invaluable museum, has been transformed into a technified plantation to produce one of the best specialty coffees in Guatemala. The humid subtropical climate and fertile volcanic soil, at an altitude between 1,450 to 1,550 meters above sea level, combine to grow the finest Arabica coffee beans. The final product is a “strictly hard” (SHB) coffee, recognized among the best in the world for its distinctive acidity, consistent body, defined flavor and strong aroma.
At Finca Aurora the following varieties are developed: Caturra, Venecia, Bourbon, Maragogype, Gesha, SL28 and Pacamara.
The mill meets the standards of food products, made of stainless steel in receiving tanks, distribution channels, grocery stores, pre-dryer, and dehydration of the grain in African beds. Continuing with a complete farm dry mill to guarantee the exported product.
